Destinations for Your Summer Road Trip

Now that Memorial Day is quickly approaching, Chesapeake, VA families are beginning to plan their summer vacations. There’s nothing quite as exhilarating as packing up your new 2019 Jeep® Grand Cherokee with the family and hitting the road on a weekend road trip. Here in Virginia, we’re blessed with a long list of great road trip destinations within driving distance of our dealership. Here are a few of our favorites.

Skyline Drive: The Skyline Drive is a great way to explore the outdoors. The route starts at Front Royal and continues for 105 miles through Shenandoah National Park. There’s hiking and camping opportunities all along the route, 75 scenic overlooks, multiple hikes, and many waterfalls. This is the perfect road trip for a durable new Jeep SUV.

Washington D.C.: For a more urban-flavored road trip, head north about 200 miles to our nation’s capital. Whether you are a history buff, a foodie, or a sports fan, you’ll find something to love about Washington D.C. Some must-sees are the free Smithsonian museums, the war memorials, a White House visit, and a walk around the Mall.

Outer Banks, NC: For a more beach and island-centric road trip, consider making the trip down the Outer Banks in North Carolina. This strip of coastal islands is especially popular in the summertime, and visitors get to experience top beaches, lighthouses, and sweeping vistas. Start at the Currituck Beach Lighthouse in Corolla, NC and work your way past the Wright Brother National Memorial, Jockey’s Ridge State park, and don’t miss the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
